Big Ford commercial vehicle fleet order for MAN TGX 13 January 2012

MAN Truck & Bus is providing 185 MAN TGX 26.440 BLS 6x2 tractor units to Ford Motor Company under a five year lease agreement.

A change of equipment package has also been agreed by MAN for the automotive manufacturer, meaning a further 185 units will be delivered in 2013 to replace the fleet.

In total, the order volume comprises 370 commercial vehicles, one of the largest received by MAN Truck & Bus in the UK in recent years – and marking a milestone for the company, which has been a major provider of trucks to Ford's German logistics operations in Cologne for years.

The MAN TGX tractor units will go into operation at Ford's transport operations facilities in Dagenham, Halewood, Bridgend and Southampton.

Ford says it made the selection because MAN Truck & Bus put together an attractive package that met its requirements. Attention to detail and the service provided by MAN's sales team were also factors in the decision, as was the positive feedback Ford received from its drivers, in terms of handling and comfort.

Ford will be using the MAN fleet to move engines, gearboxes and components in the UK.
