Blakes rallies to top spot with first Irizar Integral 19 May 2017
Tiverton-based Blakes Coaches has returned from the UK Coach Rally in Blackpool (6-7 May) with the Irizar Trophy.
Founder’s daughter Hannah Blake selected the 13.2m, tri-axle Irizar i6 and was involved in specifying the luxury tour coach, which joins the operator’s fleet of ten touring coaches.
The 53-seater features seatback tables and three-point belts, a toilet, drinks machine, cant rail and mood lighting, twin-screen DVD system, driver bunk, reversing horn and camera, inverter, and USB charging sockets throughout.
Blake is the firm’s account manager but also passed her PCV driving test last year. “I’ve just got back from a four-day tour to Looe, in Cornwall – not the easiest area to drive,” says Blake.
“But my co-driver and I agreed that the engine and gearbox combination were ideal, holding well on hills with plenty of spare power to climb them, and perfect gear changes.”
“More importantly, the passengers love it. I’m convinced that it is the perfect coach for our work.”
