BOCM Pauls beef up blower fleet with Volvo FM09 December 2010

Animal feed manufacturer and distributor BOCM Pauls says it has selected Volvo FM trucks for its fleet, because of their reliable, tough construction.

"Delivering to farms down narrow tracks and over poor terrain, often in bad weather, requires a reliable, robust truck and the FM fits the bill," says fleet and procurement manger Andy Stanfield.

The order includes 14 FM 8x4 bulk blowers, two FM 8x2 bulk blowers, two FM 6x4 bulk blowers, three FM 6x2 curtainsiders and an additional FM 8x2 curtainsider. The 6x2 and 8x2 chassis all have lifting air-suspended rear steering axles to aid access to farms etc, and to give added traction.

With a mix of 330hp, 410hp and 450hp engines and the Volvo I-Shift automated gearbox, Stanfield reckons there will be plenty of power. And he comments on the comfortable cab – all of which means drivers are well looked after.

The blower and curtainsider bodywork is being supplied by Priden Engineering of Wisbech, while the trucks themselves are being delivered by WW Truck and Bus of Avonmouth on contract hire including repair and maintenance.
