Boughey Distribution increases volume of Tiger trailer fleet30 November 2017

Nantwich-based Boughey Distribution has taken delivery of 50 new curtainsiders from Tiger Trailers, replacing older assets from rival manufacturers and increasing Tiger’s share of the fleet to more than 75%.

The new additions are all clearspan tri-axle trailers, 35 at 4.2m and 15 at 4.5m, with the former being used on contracts calling for double-stacked loads.

Built to Boughey’s specification, the trailers have 13 pairs of load restraints and rear bunching straps at the rear corner pillars, as well as snap hooks and rings on the inside, flush-fitting rear doors made from galvanised steel, with four hinges and robust double door lock bars to boost load security. All are certified to EN 12642-XL standards.

Supplied on an eight-year lease direct from Tiger, the trailers are mounted with BPW axles, Knorr Bremse braking system and fitted with Michelin tyres, Boughey’s preferred tyre brand.

“We were one of Tiger’s very first customers, and the fact we are gradually replacing the entire fleet speaks volumes,” says Paul Brimelow, Boughey’s group fleet engineer.

“We know what Tiger is capable of in terms of quality and customer care. They do everything they can to support us, and if we ever have an issue, they work to address it immediately – you can’t put a price on what that’s worth.”
