BPW’s trailer suspension assembly exceeds expectations 24 February 2011

Twelve months after BPW started assembling commercial vehicle suspension systems at its Leicester HQ, not just in Germany, the company has celebrated a major milestone.

This month, the 10,000th axle has rolled off the BPW production line, and this figure has surpassed the initial projected build by more than 25%.

"The new facility has enabled us to respond more quickly to our transport customers' changing requirements, whilst at the same time keeping our stock of finished axle assemblies to a minimum," comments Richard Gibbs, BPW managing director.

The investment in the facility – more than £500,000 – was used for specialist installation and assembly equipment at BPW Leicester, which enables drum brake and the latest Eco disc brake axles to be built on site.

In Europe, BPW is the leading axle and suspension manufacturer for trailers and semi-trailers – success that the company puts partly down to the running gear's ability to offer operators "a high performance, low maintenance component that ultimately offers them a long-term cost-effective solution".
