Bretts Transport boosts driver retention with Scania S Series07 February 2018

Bretts Transport has taken delivery of four Scania S 450 6x2/2 Highlines, citing driver appeal, vehicle reliability and dealer service as key factors in the decision.

Supplied by TruckEast, of Peterborough, the Wisbech-based operator’s latest additions bring its 90-strong fleet to more than 90% Scania.

The 44-tonners are powered by Scania’s six-cylinder, 13-litre engine, delivering 444bhp with 2,350Nm torque.

Having previously operated the R-Series, Bretts Transport decided to take a step up to the S-Series as part of its driver retention strategy.

Simon Brett, managing director of the family-run business, explains: “We know our drivers work really hard for us and we ask a lot of them. In return, we want to offer them one of the best vehicles on the market.”

The new S-Series Highline offers a spacious, high-spec work environment thanks to the extra interior height, full flat-floor, storage facilities and ergonomic dashboard.

“We already know our drivers like the Scania product, but this time we can offer a higher specification for our latest units – a premium heated driver’s seat, electric roof hatch, additional storage both inside and out, an uprated media system, a bigger bed, fridge, microwave, the list goes on,” says Brett.

Reliability, too, is vital, he adds, with both the build quality and dealer service crucial factors in this.

The operator has ordered five more S 450 trucks for delivery in April. Like their predecessors, the vehicles are supplied on five-year contract hire through Scania Financial Services and maintained by TruckEast Peterborough.
