Bridgestone offers coach technicians Driver CPC training 22 February 2012

Bridgestone has become the first tyre manufacturer to develop a training course specifically to help workshop technicians complete 35 hours of Driver CPC training.

The new two-day technician course, entitled 'Bridgestone Roadside', takes technicians through three elements – health and safety, customer care and assessing the roadside situation.

The course qualifies delegates for 14 hours of Driver CPC accreditation under JUAPT (CRS 1280 and 1117 modules) and attendees also receive a Roadside Technician ID card.

"All PSV license holders are required to complete 35 hours of Driver CPC training – not just drivers," explains Paul Turner, Bridgestone UK training manager.

"The Bridgestone Roadside course has been specifically designed to be useful to workshop technicians and the feedback from the first course indicates that this is very much the case," he ads.

Bridgestone's course is targeted at technicians from the tyre, bus and coach industries.

Three member companies of the Guild of British Coach Operators – Skills Coaches from Nottingham, Selwyns from Runcorn and Richmond's from Cambridge – have already attended.

"This course gives you full awareness of the dangers, if working on the public highway, and also all of the safety aspects to carry out recovery or repairs on the roadside," comments Patrick Cranville, workshop manager from Richmond Coaches.
