Brit European rolls out carpet for Terberg trailer mounted forklifts 06 November 2014

Innovative logistics specialist Brit European has upgraded forklift trucks on nine of its box van trailers to Terberg Kinglifter trailer-mounted forklifts.

The Kinglifters were selected for use on its flooring contract vehicles, delivering carpets and rugs from Belgian manufacturers to Carpetright's UK store network for which Brit European operates a dedicated fleet of 60 box van trailers, all with rear mounted forklifts.

"These trailers are worked extremely hard every week, with a typical truck and trailer combination handling up to 30 deliveries on one journey route," comments Graham Lackey, Brit European group managing director.

"In the run-up to changing our trailer-mounted forklifts, we looked at a number of manufacturers. Overall, however, we felt that Terberg Kinglifter gave us the right specification for this particularly demanding job and, most importantly, they support their products with an excellent service and maintenance package."

For all nine trailers, Brit European has specified the Terberg Kinglifter TKL MC model, a compact forklift with a lifting capacity up to 2,500kg.

Lackey expects the new Kinglifters to have a minimum working life of seven years and possibly up to 10 years -- and he says the change of supplier was handled well.

"The introduction of the Terberg Kinglifters into our fleet was first class, with Terberg providing excellent driver training support, which enabled us to benefit from a seamless handover," he states.

"In addition, all the drivers on this particular contract are extremely happy with the new Kinglifter equipment," commented Graham Lackey.
