Bull’s latest deliveries included a new flagship FH16-750 for the 37-strong truck fleet, which includes 32 Volvos, 16 of which are the latest series FH tractor units.
Engine power outputs specified range from 460bhp to the latest 750bhp tractor unit, with Volvo I-Shift AMTS (automated manual transmissions) throughout.
“Our drivers like the Volvos,” reports director Jonathan Bull. “Most of them prefer them to the other makes in the fleet and will ask if they can take an FH for their shift.”
Bull’s tractors pull a range of semi-trailers, including several 4.65-metre high curtainsiders, as well as 4.2-metre to 4.8- metre fridges ranging from eight to 13.6 metres in length for supermarket deliveries.
“Because of the reliability of the Volvo trucks and the outstanding service we receive from Truck and Bus Wales & West at Newport, we can achieve optimum vehicle availability on a daily basis,” comments co-director Richard Bull.
The company also uses Volvo’s Dynafleet telematics to measure fuel consumption and Bull reports that overall fleet average mpg for the Volvo 44 tonne gcw artics is in the ‘upper nines’.
