Bus and coach operators rely on Volvo26 August 2015

Vehicle reliability was the clincher for two of Volvo’s latest orders, from Irish operator Ardcavan Coach Tours and bus operator East Yorkshire Motor Services.

Wexford-based Ardcavan has taken delivery of a 53-seater Euro 6 B11R coach, also citing aftermarket service and resale value for its decision.

"This is our fifth new Volvo and the first B11R Euro 6 we've added to our fleet," says Philip O'Leary, Ardcavan's director.

"Our previous experience of Volvo, based on reliability, quality and operational performance, meant we had no hesitation in selecting them once again."

Service will be provided by dealer Irish Commercials of Dublin.

Meanwhile, Hull-based East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) has extended its 300-strong fleet with three high-spec Volvo B9TL buses and a Euro 6 Volvo B5TL.

Robert Gibson, chief engineer of EYMS, says: "We have a longstanding, great relationship with Volvo, and the support team at Crossroads Hull.

"Reliability, performance and the durability of the Volvo chassis were key in our purchase criteria.

The Volvo B5TL Euro 6 with MCV body is the first example of the new MCV Evo Seti body on a B5TL chassis, and the three Volvo B9TL Wrightbus-bodied vehicles complement the existing EYMS fleet."
