BYD-ADL partnership upgrades Enviro200EV single-decker range18 September 2019

BYD Europe and Alexander Dennis (ADL) have announced that their electric vehicle, the Enviro200EV, will be upgraded with ADL’s new electric bus heating system and optimised vehicle layouts.

The BYD ADL Enviro200EV single-decker will be available in two new lengths of 10.9m and 11.6m.

The 10.9m vehicle replaces the current 10.8m version, while the 11.6m replaces the current 12m model and offers two additional seats.

The buses will also use a new heat pump solution, designed to transfer atmospheric heat into the vehicle. The system runs efficiently in low ambient temperatures and can be used in reverse to cool the vehicle.

The upgrade brings the buses in line with the shorter 10.2m and 9.6m versions of Enviro200EV as well as the double-deck Enviro400EV, all introduced to the market this year.

Colin Robertson, ADL’s chief executive, says: “Our partnership continues to go from strength to strength as bus operators choose reliability and best-in-class support.

“With this upgrade to the BYD ADL Enviro200EV single-decker, we are building even more strongly on ADL’s unrivalled experience in designing buses that maximise efficiency, capacity and passenger comfort.”

BYD ADL says it has already received orders for the upgraded models, bringing the number of its electric buses delivered or on order to 412.
