Bywaters builds new partnership with Volvo Trucks12 April 2011

London based recycling firm Bywaters has entered into a close working arrangement with Volvo Trucks and Volvo Dealer Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London.

Bywaters – which operates two four-hectare materials recycling facilities handling 1,500,000 tonnes a year – has taken 52 Volvo FL, FE (including one FE Hybrid) and FM recycling vehicles, as part of a comprehensive upgrade to Euro-5 emissions standards.

Volvo won the five-year deal for its supply and maintenance offer, which covers the mix of hookloaders, RCVs (refuse collection vehicles) and skip loaders, as well as the Incomol and Multilift bodywork on the trucks on a preventive maintenance basis.

Bywaters business support director Helen Glover explains that Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London will be responsible for the maintenance aspects, with work carried out at its Barking dealership, which also aims to reduce empty running and emissions.

"By working so closely with Volvo over the coming years, we hope to build on and implement a quality platform for the ongoing development of our services to London and the south-east," she says.

"The efficiencies generated by the new Volvo fleet should help increase our tonnage throughput and, as a consequence, our overall recovery rate, while reducing noise and emissions for our customers and the streets of London," adds Bywaters strategic development manager David Rumble.
