Canters help to make sure Windowflowers bloomed in 201107 October 2011

Workers in London and beyond enjoyed some stunning floral displays this summer – thanks once again to Windowflowers and its fleet of 3.5-tonne Fuso Canters.

Like another pair of vehicles purchased last year, the company's latest two Canters are powered by engines that not only meet Euro 5 emissions limits but also the more EEV standard.

They were supplied by Aldershot Mercedes-Benz dealer Rossetts Commercials – the German manufacturer's UK network is also responsible for sales and support of the popular Japanese light truck range.

Both are Canter 3C13 models with 130bhp versions of the Canter's state-of-the-art 3-litre diesel engine, and bodies by AL Musselwhite of Romsey, Hampshire: one is a box, the other a tipper.

Windowflowers runs 3.5-tonners because they can be driven on a standard car licence and because they are compact and manoeuvrable enough for operation in tight inner-city locations. And it chooses the Canter at this gross weight because it also offers the strength and rugged durability otherwise found only in larger vehicles.

"Most 3.5-tonne chassis cabs are van-based," said general manager Jim Lodge. "But the Fuso Canter is built like a proper truck. It has a competitive payload too, so it's perfect for our needs."
