Cargotec reveals Hiab units aimed at recycling industry 09 September 2013

Cargotec saus it intends to display three truck products from its Hiab range at the RWM 2013 exhibition, each suited to applications in the waste and recycling sector.

First up will be the Hiab Multilift XR24S.55, which joins the XR Power range of demountable body systems. It is designed for 32-tonne gvw trucks, and has the advantage of lower weight materials, meaning improved payload potential.

The equipment on display will be fitted to a 32-tonne four-axle Scania chassis and is due to enter service with Devon-based Gregory Distribution. According to the manufacturer, the unit offers faster tipping, lowering and speed, as well as automatic sequence control and friction relief.

Over an eight-year lifespan, and based on a typical 10 cycle per day operation, these options help deliver an estimated saving in CO2 emissions and cost of operation of 18%, equating to in excess of £7,500, according to Cargotec.

Also being exhibited will be a Hiab SLT skip loader fitted to an 18-tonne DAF chassis that has been built with specialist vehicle hire company SHB Hire for use as a demonstrator.

The third product will be the recently redesigned Moffett M5 truck-mounted forklift (TMFL). Available in four different versions and capable of handling loads up to 2.5 tonnes, this model will be fitted with a Bolzoni paper clamp for use in bulk collection of baled paper and card.
