Cartwright apprentice drive going well, but more needed 11 August 2015

Trailer and body manufacturer Cartwright Group says its recruitment drive – which is seeking 40 young apprentices by the end of this month (August 2015) – has almost succeeded.

Scores of hopefuls attended the first batch of assessment days at the company's Altrincham factory and HR manager Julie Holden says the team saw some high calibre candidates, many of whom are expected to start in the coming weeks.

However, Holden says there are still vacancies for the two-year scheme and she is urging anyone interested to get in touch immediately.

Held with Cartwright's newly-appointed training provider SETA (Stockport Engineering Training Association), the assessment days will continue into November, with Cartwright planning to take on another 30—40 apprentices in September, and 20—30 more in November.

Now in its fourth year, Cartwright's apprenticeship scheme has mirrored the company's success.

The award-winning scheme leads to an NVQ Level 2 engineering apprenticeship, with the opportunity to progress to Level 3 and ultimately HND.

Holden says Cartwright's retention rates are well above average, with the company making a conscious effort to maintain the skill sets necessary to continue driving the business forward.
