Celtic Recycling goes greener with driver feedback system 13 September 2013

Specialist recycling firm Celtic Recycling says it has been reducing its carbon emissions and saving money since specifying Ashwoods Automotive's Lightfoot driver behaviour feedback technology.

The operator installed the Lightfoot in-cab system on in its fleet of 14 Renault Master vans, and has since also purchased four of Ashwoods' Hybrid Transit vans.

"We looked at a wide range of options for our LCV fleet and decided that Ashwoods offered two technologies that really suited us," comments transport manager Peter O'Rourke.

"The Lightfoot system advises the driver on the optimum time to change gear and is making a real impact on fuel economy. We are now looking at introducing it to our HGV fleet," he adds.

Lightfoot advises the driver on how to operate the vehicle in the most fuel-efficient manner, by using real-time audio and visual aids in the cab. Ashwoods claims an average improvements of 15% on fuel consumption.

The firm says savings are more sustainable than with stand-alone driver training, because Lightfoot provides guidance every day – helping to prevent drivers slipping back into bad habits and also improving driver safety.
