Commercial vehicle specialist North East Truck & Van Limited has undergone a corporate restructure to further its aim of ensuring proactive succession planning to safeguard its.

Following over 30 years of service, Sandy McDonald is stepping down from his role as managing director and handing the reins to his son John. To assist a smooth transition, Sandy will stay on as chairman.

John McDonald joined the company in 2014 following a career in accountancy. Over the previous seven years, he has fulfilled various roles in the company including financial analyst and finance director.

Speaking about the changes in company structure, John McDonald commented: “It is with immense pride that I will be taking over this position from my father. My main aim is to continue to build upon our successes, ensuring the company continues to evolve to meet the demands of our loyal and valued customers. There are a lot of factors going to affect our industry in the coming years, be it alternative fuels, labour shortages or changes in the wider economic climate, and it is our role to be here and ready to support our customers through those changes, keeping their vehicles on the road and their businesses moving.”

North East Truck & Van covers the northern-most areas of the UK, over 10,000 square miles - from Lincolnshire to the Borders of Scotland. Dealer locations include Billingham, Blaydon, Carlisle, York, Hull, Immingham, and Lincoln. It represents IVECO, MAN, Fiat Professional and Maxus.
