Citroën goes green to help LCV operators 07 April 2011

Citroën is to provide a 'Go Green and Clean Allowance' of up to £3,500 to help LCV operators affected by the changes to the LEZ (London Low Emission Zone) scheme, due to take effect on 3 January 2012.

From that date, the LEZ scheme will include: larger vans between 1,205kg unladen weight and up to 3,500kg gvw; minibuses of less than 5,000kg gvw; and ambulances and motor caravans registered before 1 January 2002, which do not currently meet Euro 3 emissions standards.

Throughout this month, registered keepers of vehicles potentially affected will receive a letter from TfL (Transport for London) notifying them of the changes, which will prevent them from using their vehicles in the LEZ, unless they pay a charge of £100 a day.

"The new Citroën 'Go Green and Clean Allowance' is yet another practical demonstration of the brand's affordable, environmental policy," states Scott Michael, Citroën UK's commercial vehicle operations manager.

"It provides a subsidy of up to £3,500 towards a new, low emission, fuel efficient Citroën LCV and plays an important part in supporting TfL's London air quality improvement programme, while customers benefit from greater operational, financial and efficiency gains," he adds.

The allowance is available to any operator who can produce the TfL letter, referring to a vehicle that was registered before 1 January 2002 and which has a current VED licence and an MOT.
