Co-op saves £20,000 with r2c Online fleet system 10 November 2014

The Co-operative has switched to r2c Online to electronically manage its commercial fleet defect reporting system from the West Thurrock food distribution centre.

"We have a vast and complex fleet operation with vehicle defects and scheduled maintenance to take into account [so] r2c Online system has reduced administration time," states Alex Scott, transport compliance manager at the West Thurrock site, in Essex.

"An overview of the current health of the fleet is right at your finger tips," he continues.

"Financially, per year, we are saving around £1,000 in the cost of paper and a further £20,000 in labour time. Drivers, in particular, no longer have to spend time hand writing defect reports."

The Co-operative's food distribution operation is split across eight regional distribution centres and three smaller satellite depots. The West Thurrock site has 300 drivers with 285 vehicles leaving the yard between 3am and 11pm each day.

"We chose r2c Online because the system is so user friendly," comments Scott.

"Anyone with basic computer skills can pick it up very easily which is useful for our temporary staff. Also, r2c Online is cloud based so I am able to access it away from the depot."

Scott also says that r2c Online is always looking for ways to improve the system. "Consequently, they were receptive to our operational demands and made changes that suited us.

"It took just 10 days to set up from start to finish. Their support team is next to none and are only an email and telephone call away. We are very impressed."
