Coach market improves as Irizar and Volvo see more sales06 July 2015

As coach travel continues to flourish, three more operators have this month bought new vehicles for their fleets – two choosing Irizar and the third opting for Volvo.

Greys of Ely, in Cambridgeshire, liked the i6 Integral it bought last year so much, it has added another. Devon-based Dartline Coaches bought two new i6 Integrals and says it wants more next year. And, Co. Kerry-based Kennedy Coaches has taken delivery of a new Volvo B8R Euro 6 coach.

Greys' choice was a 57-seat, 12.9-metre two-axle i6, while Dartline also went for a 12.9-metre, two-axle vehicle, although fitted with 53-seats – in this case equipped with a DAF Paccar MX11 engine.

Then Kennedy Coaches selected a new Volvo B8R Euro 6 coach.

The Irish operator is already running two Volvo B11R coaches as part of a 20 vehicle fleet and has been impressed with the fuel economy of the product.

"Our Volvo B11Rs are achieving something in the region of 13-14mpg, which has surpassed our initial expectations," explains Kennedy Coaches Director, Patrick Kennedy.
