Coach operator picks Volvo 9700 for ‘superior’ build quality12 November 2015

Tour operator Brent Thomas Coaches has taken delivery of two Volvo Bus integral 9700 coaches as the latest additions to its 12-strong fleet.

The Welsh operator is a long-term Volvo customer and says it chose the 57-seater integral 9700 due to its high specification and quality finish.

“As ever, it was important to us to purchase the best possible quality coaches and the Volvo 9700 is far superior to anything else we’ve looked at,” says Brent Thomas.

“Fuel efficiency was also an important consideration for us and this was another reason for our selecting these two new coaches.”

Volvo has also announced another order, secured at Coach & Bus Live, for eight integral B11R 9700 coaches for Irish operator GoBus.ie.

Due for delivery early next year, the order comprises four 13-metre 53/55 seaters and four 13.8-metre 57/59 seaters, all with alloy wheels and CCTV.

Each vehicle will be equipped with Volvo’s Driver Support System (DSS), featuring AEBS (advanced emergency braking system and forward collision warning), lane-keeping support and adaptive cruise control.

Jim Burke, GoBus.ie managing director, says: “Earlier this year we were invited to take part in the testing of the DSS with one of our new Volvo B11Rs... Since then, all of our drivers have had the opportunity to try out the DSS for themselves and they all think it’s great.

“The fact that it is now fitted as standard on the Volvo B11R 9700 was another key part of our purchasing decision making.”
