Coach operator scores with Euro 6 MAN Tourliner20 March 2014

Coach operator Ellisons Travel has taken delivery of its first Euro 6 vehicle, a MAN Neoplan P20 Tourliner.

The Merseyside-based operator's latest vehicle is a 55-seater, with features including front monitor and drop-down centre monitors, forward-facing camera display, reversing camera and multimedia system. It also has cruise control, brake pad wear display and a new Euro 6 dashboard showing mpg performance.

Powered by a 480bhp MAN D2676 LOH31engine, it has a 12-speed Tipmatic gearbox and a gvw of 24.9 tonnes.

Ellisons' customers include many premiership football clubs, and the new Euro 6 vehicle took Manchester City staff and families to London for the League Cup Final at the beginning of March.

Ellisons has its own team of technicians, but also uses MAN Truck & Bus in Manchester.

Andy Magowan, Ellisons' managing director, says the additional technology involved in Euro 6 means he is looking at MAN's R&M packages.

"When you look at what we would face in terms of even just the fixed costs of handling all our own repair and maintenance, the prices we are quoted look very good value."

Ellisons has since ordered another Euro 6 vehicle, a P12 Neoplan Starliner.
