Coach operators return to Scania for reliability and service24 March 2017

Norfolk’s Coach Services and Dudley-based Dunwood Travel have both returned to Scania for new coaches, citing product reliability and service as key to their decisions.

Coach Services’ latest addition is a 57-seater on Irizar i6 13.2-metre body, with upgraded i6 plus seats, three-point seatbelts, centre sunken toilet, drinks machine and climate control air conditioning.

Operations director Thomas Crawford says: “We have been so pleased with the Scania Irizar i6 we purchased in 2014 that when it came to looking for another new touring coach the decision was an easy one.”

Dealer service is “superb”, he adds, and the two-year R&M package provides peace of mind as the vehicle operates across Europe.

Dunwood Travel’s latest Scania coach (pictured) is also equipped with Irizar i6 bodywork, and the 49-seater is built on a Scania K 360 IB4x2 chassis. It features a 360bhp Euro 6 engine and fully automated Opticruise gear selection system.

“We have been extremely happy with our current Scania coaches and the level of service given by all departments within the Scania organisation gives us no reason to look elsewhere,” says Dunwood’s director Phil Westwood. The operator has since ordered another vehicle, for delivery in June.

In other news, Scania has announced that, within a week of opening, its Warrington used truck sales centre has sold 10 vehicles to Warrens Warehousing & Distribution (Midlands).

The Rugby-based operator’s vehicles are all low-mileage 2015 Scania R 450 LA6x2/4MNA twin-steer tractors.

“The experience was brilliant – the centre presents an extremely professional face and certainly enhances the purchasing process,” says Warrens’ fleet manager Steve Parker.

“The quality of used trucks from Scania gives us the assurance we need that they are more than up to the job; we are very satisfied with our purchase.”
