Coachstyle picks up fuel efficiency and DDA compliance with Solo fleet16 February 2015

Coach operator Coachstyle says it is “extremely pleased” with the fuel efficiency of seven Optare Solo vehicles it acquired last year, to meet growing business demand and to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) which came into force for public transport operators last month.

The Cotswolds-based operator's latest additions are seven 7.9m-long, 2.33m-wide Solos, which seat up to 27 people with a further nine standing.

From 1 January 2015, all buses operating on registered routes open to the public up to 7.5 tonnes are required to be DDA compliant, with features including wheelchair access ramp, priority seating, space for guide dogs, and handrails to assist disabled passengers.

"The Solo's low-entry floor and front axle forward of the door design allows for easy access to a fully flat lower saloon area, making these buses easily accessible for all and fully compliant with the DDA regulations," says Andrew Jones, owner of Coachstyle.

"We are also extremely pleased with the fuel economies the vehicles are delivering. I would certainly recommend these vehicles."
