The Knutsford, Cheshire-based firm’s new flagship truck – which joins a seven-strong all Volvo fleet – is plated for operation at up to 65 tonnes under STGO CAT2 regulations.
This is the company’s first new Volvo and is usually coupled to a new Faymonville Multimax four-axle, extendable low loader trailer.
Director Rob Symons says the combination will be delivering its 70 Haas and Doppstadt specialist machines for slow- and high-speed shredding and screening of waste.
However, the fitment of a Rockinger towing hitch, together with full air and electrics to the tractor rear, enables it to multitask and couple to wheeled machines like certain of the Doppstadt screens.
“What attracted us to the FH16-650 was the whole package offered by Volvo and Thomas Hardie Commercials – like the fact that the FH16-650 is connected to the dealer,” says Symons.
“[Our] mobile recycling machines are connected to our workshops so we can monitor component wear and diagnose in-service problems remotely,” he continues.
“So we are used to this technology … and recognise that it will be of benefit with the Volvo during the next five years.”
CRJ Services also went for Volvo Trucks’ highest level Gold R&M contract, with maintenance and O licence Inspections being carried out at weekends by supplying dealer, Thomas Hardie Commercials, in Middlewich.
