The Bodmin, Cornwall-based operators, which provide rapid-response, 24 hour assistance for temperature controlled transport, chose Verilocation when it needed a more efficient method of tracking and planning jobs for its mobile workshop fleet.
CRTS managing director Tim Edwards says that, with Verilocation’s Pin-Drop facility, managers can instantly flag locations across the counties and provide customers with accurate arrival times.
“We can also monitor all of our vehicle activities, including speed, mileage, idling and, of course, location, at any time”, says Edwards.
“This is an asset, not just for keeping an eye on the fleet but also for monitoring driver behaviour,” he continues.
“The tracking system produces an ongoing score for each driver, which has encouraged a sense of competition among the engineers to be the best.”
Edwards says the effect has been to educate drivers in terms of more economic driving styles, while also improving service efficiency and helping to keep vehicle running costs down.
In fact, CRTS is now offering additional vehicle electrical and transport service solutions, including tracking services and temperature monitoring, using Verilocation.
“We strive to provide a broad range of services and the Verilocation temperature monitoring system is particularly relevant for many of our existing customers who deliver temperature sensitive goods,” explains Edwards.
And he explains that automatic alerts can be sent to operators’ control offices via SMS or email, with information on deviations from the fridge’s defined set points.
Additionally, the system notifies operators’ fleet management teams when doors are open and for how long.
