C&S Transport takes delivery of first Schmitz Cargobull brick-carriers27 October 2015

Construction materials haulier C&S Transport has taken delivery of three Schmitz Cargobull brick-carriers, the first to be sold in the UK.

The brick-carriers each have 10 aluminium dropside walls and stanchions, which enable a greater payload as they are shorter and lighter than others on the market, says the manufacturer.

The sidewalls and stanchions can be removed easily, allowing the trailer to be converted into a flatbed, and they are mounted to Schmitz Cargobull’s Modulos chassis, designed for maximum strength and durability.

The galvanised, reinforced chassis can carry up to 25 tonnes on a 6m loading length for high point loads and comes equipped with 15 pairs of five-tonne, heavy-duty lashing rings as standard.

Craig Chambers, director of C&S Transport, says: “The new brick-carrier trailers are just what we have been looking for and are purpose-built for this industry.

“We operate in a sector of transport which really works its assets hard. This requires equipment which can cope not only with the heavy loads, but with the demands that delivering to construction sites brings.

“We do our own regular maintenance and servicing, but if the product isn’t up to scratch in the first place, it means very little. With Schmitz Cargobull we know we get a good solid trailer and that’s why we keep coming back for more.”

The Northamptonshire-based operator’s latest additions will run five days a week, covering up to 150,000km a year.
