CTS commercial director Doug Overett says that, owing to the specialised nature of some of its work, trailer construction needs to be ultra secure.
“We turned to Ekeri because they are the only trailer manufacturer that produces a trailer to the criteria specified by our customers,” he adds.
The trailers specified had to be capable of side loading but central locking from the cab, using remote control.
They also had to have anti-pry doors, reinforced floors with 3mm hardened aluminium chequer plate, and high-strength 1.5mm steel wall surfaces for added impact protection.
CTS’s new semi-trailers have also been fitted with an alarm system providing audio and visual alerts linked to the firm’s traffic office.
Additionally, when any of the new trailers is detached from its tractor unit, real time surveillance is maintained using satellite tracking.
“Loads can include aerospace, defence and security sensitive items that not only require careful handling during transit but also, because of their extremely high value and/or high risk, must be afforded the highest security at every stage of the journey,” explains Overett.
“Certainly, CTS Group and our customers in turn are satisfied that these trailers are up to the task,” adding that the Ekeri trailers are also useful for European contracts given the current immigration issues.
“The Ekeri trailers offer extremely high security standards for companies exporting and importing sensitive and high-value goods between the UK and Europe.”
