DAF celebrates two decades of apprenticeship success06 November 2015

DAF Trucks held its annual apprentice of the year awards and graduation ceremony last week, in Bristol – the 20th anniversary of its apprenticeship programme.

Since its inception in 1995, 1,500 apprentices have been through the programme and now 20% of all DAF dealer technicians have successfully completed the scheme.

Awards are presented to each of the yearly intakes and, this year, Dexter Truscott from Wessex DAF scooped the third year apprentice title – a hat trick, following his wins in years one and two.

Winner of the year two category was Macauley Adams, of Wessex DAF; Thomas Hill of Greenhous DAF took top spot in year one.

Chloe Bevins from HTC Heathrow became the first female apprentice to graduate and, as a result, has been promoted to workshop administrator.

The apprenticeship programme has seen many successes in the past 20 years. From the original 1995 intake, Tom Osborne is now aftersales director at dealer Brian Currie, and former apprentices Jamie Selway and Ryan Collins are now service managers at Harris DAF and Ford & Slater, respectively.
