DAF continues to grow market share in Europe 07 February 2011

DAF has further strengthened its position in the European truck market, following 2010 sales figures.

In the heavy class (above 15 tonnes), it achieved a solid 15.2% market share in the EU, while in terms of volume, DAF now takes third place among the European truck manufacturers, and says it is well on its way to its mid term goal of 20% market share.

Last year, around 183,000 trucks in the above 15-tonne class were registered in the 27 countries of the eU (plus Norway and Switzerland). This figure represents an increase of more than 9% year-on-year.

It is estimated that industry sales in that European sector will be in the range of 220,000 to 240,000 units in 2011.

"Our success is the result of a modern product range and a very professional dealer organisation," says Ron Bonsen, member of the board of management of DAF Trucks NV and responsible for marketing and sales.

"At least as important, however, is the complete range of services behind the product, which guarantee maximum vehicle availability and low operational costs under all circumstances," he adds.
