DAF launches rear-steer versions of CF and XF 6x2 tractor units 06 February 2015

DAF is now launching CF and XF 6x2 tractor units with a rear steering axle for applications needing maximum manoeuvrability – such as with construction and agricultural deliveries.

The three-axle FTN CF and XF tractors have a 7.5 tonne steered trailing rear axle with single tyres mounted behind the 11.5 tonne drive axle

DAF makes the point that this makes the new tractor ideal for tasks where manoeuvring is a problem and the rear axle can't be lifted due to a high pin load – such as on trucks with cranes mounted behind the cab.

The firm also suggests that the steered rearmost axle reduces tyre scrub while also improving mobility on slippery surfaces, such as those encountered with farm and building site deliveries.

DAF is offering the new CF and XF truck configurations with the 10.8 litre Paccar MX-11 and 12.9 litre MX-13 engines, with ratings of 396—510bhp.

Both are also available with DAF's latest Predictive Cruise Control with predictive shifting and Eco Mode, with claimed fuel savings of at least 5%.

The CF is available with the Day Cab, Sleeper Cab and Space Cab, while the XF comes with the Space Cab and Super Space Cab – all available now.
