DAF Trucks acquires stake in Czech truck maker 03 August 2011

DAF Trucks and TATRA have signed an agreement for DAF to acquire 19% ownership of Czech truck manufacturer TATRA as.

Under the terms of the deal, DAF will also supply engines and cabs to the company, according to Harrie Schippers, DAF Trucks president.

"DAF's minority ownership in TATRA further strengthens DAF's industry-leading position in the heavy truck segment in Central Europe," he states.

"With these agreements, the new line of TATRA off-road vehicles will combine the quality, reliability and technological leadership of the Paccar MX 12.9-litre engine and DAF CF cab, with TATRA's versatile off-road chassis," comments Ronald Adams, TATRA chairman and chief executive.

TATRA's range of new off road vehicles (4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x10 and 12x12) will also be sold by DAF dealers throughout Europe, complementing DAF's range of construction vehicles.
