DAF Trucks wins regional final of apprentice awards27 September 2013

DAF Trucks has been named winner in the 'Large Employer of the Year' category in the Thames Valley regional final of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2013.

The company was recognised for its national dealer apprentice programme.

More than 1,000 young people have now completed the three-year course, which combines hands-on workshop training with periods of residential study and practical training at the DAF Trucks Centre of Learning at City of Bristol College.

Winning the Thames Valley regional final means that the DAF Trucks award submission could now be put forward for the National Apprenticeship Awards finals, at the NEC in Birmingham, in November.

"Winning this award is a reflection of the great work that goes into the DAF national dealer apprentice programme," states Tony Shepherd, business services manager at DAF Trucks.

"It is particularly rewarding to be recognised this way at a time when we are currently reviewing all aspects of the programme in line with our continuous improvement philosophy."
