DAF unveils new LF at RWM 1715 September 2017

DAF Trucks unveiled its new LF range earlier this week at RWM 17 (NEC, Birmingham; 11-13 September).

Like the new CF and XF ranges, showcased at the CV Show in April, the new LF features updates to the engine, driveline and cab.

Specifically, the LF has an optional lower window in the passenger door, for improved kerbside visibility and to increase safety for vulnerable road users.

The range includes the LF City, with featuring a 3.8-litre, Paccar PX-4 engine at 7.5-tonne gvw with 156bhp and 172bhp ratings.

DAF also announced that the new CF and XF ranges now include double-drive and rear-steer axle configurations. The additional models complement DAF’s initial roll-out of rigids and tractors at the CV Show, and share many of the product enhancements, notably improved payload potential of 250kg on four-axle rigids, plus an improved and simplified rear steering axle for 6x2 and 8x2 configurations.

Vehicles on show at RWM included the LF 230 FA 16-tonne sweeper chassis cab and the LF 180 FA, a 12-tonne tipper chassis, which is going into operation for Eurovia at its Gloucester facility. It has a fully-insulated Mackworth tipper body, with six-tonne payload, a raised gantry, roll-over sheeting and a Red Forge on-board weighing system. Safety features include a fold-down safety rail, three-way security control on the rear-tail, side-rail protection with cycle warning boards, all-round LED lighting and Chapter 8 chevron livery.

Outside the NEC halls, DAF showcased its CF 290 FA with rear-end loader refuse collection body, due to enter service with Grundon Waste Management.
