D&E Coaches expands fleet with StreetLites10 April 2017

D&E Coaches has expanded its fleet with two Wrightbus StreetLite vehicles to meet growing business demand after it was award 12 new contracts.

The Inverness-based operator’s new additions are 9.5m wheel forward vehicles with seating for 37 passengers and fitted seatbelts included. Both are equipped with Cummins Euro 5 engines and Voith D82.5E gearboxes, and feature the manufacturer’s Micro Hybrid technology.

According to Donald Mathieson, D&E’s managing director, the StreetLites were selected for their fuel economy and passenger capacity.

“We also had a very tight lead time and Wrightbus were able to supply the buses in line with our schedule,” he adds.

“Following our recent purchase of an existing operator’s fleet, we acquired a StreetLite. We have been impressed with the performance and build quality of the vehicle, so had no hesitation in going for these two new StreetLites.”

Each bus is expected to be in operation for 16 hours a day, on daytime routes as well as evening services.
