Derbyshire operator goes for MAN tractor units again29 April 2013

Northampton-based haulier C Butt has added more MAN trucks to its existing fleet, with the delivery of six new TGX 26.440 XL tractor units.

The vehicles, all with MAN's three-year warranty and supported locally by MAN Northampton, are the second batch of MAN trucks purchased by the firm, replacing a variety of spot hire vehicles.

Clive Hodgkinson, managing director of C Butt, says the choice of the MAN tractors was based on a blend of factors.

"For us, it's about total cost of operation and the driver experience," he explains.

"MAN's servicing, PMI and MOT costs are very competitive in comparison with other makes of vehicles. The mpg is where we need it to be and the XL cab delivers very good driver comfort and safety," he adds.

The new vehicles will be used predominantly on the company's well-established regional collections and deliveries for household name companies, involving regional mileage of around 250 miles a shift.

C Butt restricts the trucks to 52mph with a cut-off at three minutes. Fuel is monitored continuously by systems deployed across the whole of the company's operations.
