Downton boosts fleet with 300 new trucks and trailers08 March 2017

Transport and logistics business CM Downton has ordered 300 trucks and trailers to support “significant” business growth.

Downton’s orders are for 100 DAF XF trucks, 100 Cartwright curtainsiders and 100 Tiger Trailer curtainsiders, all for delivery during 2017.

The 6x 2 DAF XFs will be configured to Downton’s spec, which includes MX13 460bhp engines, SuperSpace cabs and AS Tronic automatic transmission.

Downton’s 2,400-strong fleet already features equipment from DAF, Cartwright and Tiger, of which Andy Downton, managing director, says: “We’ve always invested in high performance and quality products to support our business.”

He adds: “We have secured significant new business recently and increased operations with a number of existing clients. These new vehicles will provide additional capacity and flexibility to meet the demands of these operations.”
