Drainfast meets need for speed with Maxoptra20 July 2018

Drainage product supplier Drainfast is reporting fleet efficiency improvements and increased service levels since implementing the Maxoptra routing and scheduling system.

Operating throughout the south of England, Midlands and London, Drainfast offers more than 1,200 product lines, many on next-day delivery, and has a 16-strong fleet of vehicles ranging from 3.5 to 7.5 tonnes.

“Our vision is to lead the market with cutting-edge service and value, and one of our core values is speed,” says John Harfield, transport manager.

“Following the introduction of Maxoptra, all route planning and scheduling is now completed centrally rather than by individual depot managers... This reduces the time taken to plan schedules and maximises delivery capacity.”

Having configured driver and vehicle settings, Drainfast now imports spreadsheets from its Intact accounting package into the Maxoptra cloud-based system.

Maxoptra builds delivery schedules, taking into account possible constraints such as vehicle capacity, driver restrictions and customer requirements. Its route optimisation function drives up productivity, while a mobile driver app ensures real-time flow of information, such as schedule adjustments, proof of delivery and automatic ETA notifications.

“Maxoptra produces clear, concise and efficient schedules in a matter of minutes which can be shared with depot managers, transport team and sales representatives, giving us greater visibility and more transparent operations,” says Harfield.

“With the vehicle track and trace option we can also share accurate ETAs and updates with customers, boosting customer service levels.”
