Edbro improves UK tipping R&D and test centre 16 May 2012

Tipping hydraulics manufacturer Edbro has announced a major investment in its test and development centre in Bolton.

According the company, it's all about accelerating product development and adding testing capacity for different operating conditions in the company's expanding international markets.

Peter Smith, Edbro's sales and marketing director, says that the investment has enabled a complete overhaul and update of Edbro's test facility, and the addition of two new test rigs for assessing the bending coefficient of its CS series cylinders and the operational longevity of new designs under accelerated life test conditions.

And he says that an additional area has been created with test equipment for pressure testing seals and cylinder tubes in both static and dynamic loading conditions to confirm that all new products meet its design engineers' targets.

"Investment in manufacturing is essential to keep ahead of our competitors in terms of production efficiency and production quality," explains Smith.

"R&D investments however are even more critical to ensure the long-term future of the business by continuing to provide the world's lightest and most durable telescopic tipping cylinders," he continues.

"The new buckling test rig allows Edbro to ensure that even our longest telescopic cylinder delivers the reliability that is our trademark in every market, from Chippenham to China, ensuring that our selection of cylinder is perfectly suited to the application," he adds.
