Elddis Transport and TruckForce mark 40 years with new deal27 February 2014

Haulage firm Elddis Transport and tyre service specialist TruckForce are celebrating 40 years in business together with a new three-year deal.

The two companies joined forces in the 1970s when Elddis Transport had six vehicles and 11 trailers. It now operates from nine depots with 155 tractor units and 300 trailers, covering 40,000 miles each day.

"Tyre performance is essential and a big cost for our business, so it needs to be managed efficiently," says Nigel Cook, Elddis Transport's managing director. "TruckForce has really kept the wheels rolling in our business over the years."

Two TruckForce technicians are based on site at Elddis, checking the fleet and carrying out preventive work to ensure maximum fleet uptime.

"This ensures we get the most miles possible out of our tyres," confirms Cook.

"When you think about the cost that tyres incur – whether it is fuel efficiency, repairs, punctures or the purchasing of new tyres – it all mounts up. But when that cost is managed it ultimately results in lower operating costs for our business."

As part of the new deal, Elddis will now have Goodyear's KMax and FuelMax tyres fitted across its fleet.
