Energy efficiency guide from Exxon Mobil and FTA14 October 2016

Exxon Mobil has launched a free guide, in association with the Freight Transport Association, designed to help commercial vehicle fleet operators to reduce costs both on and off the road.

The Energy Efficiency Guide includes guidance on the latest emissions regulations and provides real-world examples of the energy efficiency benefits of switching to high-performance lubricants.

In it, the FTA also outlines the challenges faced in meeting Europe’s target to reduce carbon emissions by 60% by 2050, based on 1990 levels.

James Hookham, deputy chief executive of the FTA, says: “Energy efficiency has never been so important. The heightened attention on commercial vehicle fleets to play their part in meeting emissions targets is leading the industry to reassess the way it approaches energy management.”

He adds: “There are now so many ways to streamline energy usage that we’re keen to help fleet owners understand what the legislation is and highlight what can be done in response.”

The guide includes a case study highlighting how the McLaren Technology Group has reduced energy by switching to Euro 6 trucks, specifying advanced engine and transmission oils, and introducing the Mobil Delvac 1 Driver Efficiency Challenge – moves which, in combination, have helped McLaren to improve fuel economy across the entire fleet by up to 6%.
