Euroliners offer greater flexibility, says Salvatori 17 July 2013

Kent-based haulier Salvatori has taken delivery of 12 new Schmitz Cargobull S.CS Universal Euroliner semi-trailers, as it standardises on the European-specification curtainsiders.

The new Euroliners, which were delivered into Salvatori's Calais operation and then transported to the UK, are a mix of fleet additions and replacements, an they join 14 S.CS Freepost curtainsider trailers currently in service, used for the firm's fruit distribution operation.

"We really wanted to upgrade our fleet and make it even more versatile," explains Phill Macey, transport manager at Salvatori, which is a which is a member of The Pallet Network.

"The Euroliners can do exactly the same job as a UK-spec curtainsider, but with the benefit of loading through the roof when the customer requires it. Given we do a lot of work on the Continent, it made perfect business sense."

Salvatori's S.CS Universal trailers weigh in at about 500kg less than a standard UK curtainsider, offering that much extra payload capacity and space for up to 34 Euro pallets.

They also meet the EN 12642 (Code XL) load security standard and have been built with Schmitz Cargobull's ROTOS running gear, with their maintenance-free bearing, disc brake ventilation and multi-ride-height pneumatic suspension.
