Expert Logistics majors on Mercedes-Benz trucks fleet 08 October 2013

White goods distribution firm Expert Logistics is now running 18 new trucks from Mercedes-Benz and will soon be taking delivery of many more, all via CharterWay contract leasing.

The trucks comprise 15 Atego 816 7.5-tonners and three Actros 2546 tractor units, all of which are now working from the operator's sites in Avonmouth, Crewe, Croydon, Larkhall, Leeds and Potters Bar.

"Our Mercedes-Benz trucks have proved highly reliable," comments Director of commercial finance Stuart Haynes.

"The rigids average 40 drops a day and 100,000 km a year, and we run them for five years, but they stand up to this workload with no trouble at all," he continues.

"The Atego is a very well designed truck, too. Small details make a big difference, such as the fact that the bumper is built in three separate sections, so if one part takes a knock you don't have to replace the whole thing," he adds.

Expert Logistics has ordered another 38 Atego 816s from Ciceley, as well as five 7.5-tonne Fuso Canter 7C15 light trucks.

The Canters will work in Devon and Cornwall, where Haynes expects their compact, manoeuvrable chassis to negotiate narrow lanes and avoid tree damage. Meanwhile, Expert Logistics has also been trialling a Canter Eco Hybrid dikesel-electric light truck around London.

"We've been buying trucks from Ciceley Commercials for more than 10 years and have always been very pleased with the dealer's performance, as well as that of the vehicles," says Haynes.
