Farrall’s invests £1.5m in fuel-efficient fleet expansion06 November 2013

Farrall's Transport has added 13 new Volvo trucks and 10 Lawrence David trailers to its fleet to support business expansion and to boost fuel performance.

The Cheshire-based logistics business has invested £1.5 million in a mix of Volvo FM, FH and FL trucks, along with the trailers, all of which have been fitted with tail-lifts. It anticipates fuel savings of 16-18%.

"Buying the latest fuel-efficient and environmentally compliant trucks underscores our commitment to customer service, sustainability and business growth," comments Mike Farrall, managing director.

"Having an efficient fleet that is low-maintenance, low fuel consumption and Euro 5 compliant, is now vital to winning new business in an ever more carbon-conscious commercial environment."

Among the new additions, the Volvo FL models were selected for their rear-wheel steer capability, giving extra manoeuvrability to rigid vehicles – making them useful for high-capacity collection and delivery in cities and urban areas.

Meanwhile, the Lawrence David trailers were selected "because they deliver quality product, and as our customers expect quality from ourselves we expect quality from our suppliers".
