Faymonville expands extendible semi-trailer system 31 May 2016

Specialist trailer manufacturer Faymonville has introduced a modular semi-trailer that can be widened in loaded condition without disconnecting the steering system.

Designed primarily for heavy goods traffic in North America, its DualMAX has already impressed American Heavy Moving & Rigging, from Chino, California, which bought 36 axle lines of the new vehicle.

In brief detail, all axles under load can be securely widened from 4.27m to 6.1m using what the company calls its lift and shift principle – which allows the loading platform to be adapted to the size of the load or its distribution on the ground.

“In contrast to other suppliers, the steering system doesn’t need to be disassembled for the widening process,” comments Paul Hönen, North America sales manager.

“And the tried-and-tested swing axle technology guarantees optimal manoeuvring,” he adds.

Hönen also points to Faymonville’s strong and torsion-resistant chassis, which was designed with high point load capacities on the central beam and outer frames.

And at 4,500kg per axle line ,the DualMAX allows a load of 24,000kg per axle line at 50mph – with a foldable frame making return transport possible on a conventional semi-trailer.
