First DAF CF Electric RCV begins Dutch field trial17 March 2020

DAF has announced that the first CF Electric 6x2 refuse collection vehicle has been delivered to Dutch public waste disposal company ROVA as part of a field trial involving four comparable vehicles.

The CF Electric RCV has a zero-emission VDL electric powertrain along with a fully electric VDL refuse collection superstructure, and has gone into service in the Dutch city of Zwolle.

The VDL E-power driveline fitted to the truck provides 210kW of power and a torque of 2,000Nm. The battery pack has a (gross) energy content of 170kWh, sufficient for covering regular collection routes. RCVs typically return to the depot every few hours to unload, at which time the CF Electric can recharge up to 80% battery capacity in 30 minutes.

“The DAF CF Electric is just as good and easy to operate as any conventionally powered truck,” says Marco van Lente, general director of ROVA. “It is in our DNA to take care of the future of our planet and the use of low emission vehicles is part of our sustainability plan.”
