First Shell technical centre for China 16 August 2011

Shell has opened its first Lubricants Technical Service Centre (TSC) in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, China.

Mark Gainsborough, Shell's head for downstream global commercial, says: "[This TSC] is part of our downstream selective growth strategy and allows us to support the needs of customers based in China – such as one of the largest joint venture car manufacturers, Shanghai General Motors."

He explains that this TSC is the latest addition to Shell's global technology centres, bringing together teams of scientists and engineers, many of whom are leaders in their respective fields.

Industry customers and automotive OEMs will get a range of services, such as research, marketing and training related to lubricants application, he says.

The centre will also serve as a platform for working with OEMs and research institutes in China.
