Five per cent fuel economy from Allison TC10 tractor transmissions 23 October 2013

Allison Transmission's new TC10 tractor unit gearbox is now being offered on Navistar's International ProStar and TranStar trucks with MaxxForce 13 engines equipped with SCR (selective catalytic reduction.

This is the first offering of the fully automatic Allison TC10. Navistar began accepting orders on October 15, 2013 and expects initial deliveries in the first quarter of 2014.

"The Allison TC10 is an innovative and efficient option," comments Nadine Haupt, director of alternative fuels and heavy duty on highway product marketing, Navistar.

"Fleets that rely on the TranStar and ProStar models will find that [specifying] them with an Allison TC10 will further their fuel savings and operational goals," she adds.

Test fleet users achieved an average 5% fuel economy improvement using the TC10 transmission over the current manuals and AMTs (automated manual transmissions).

Allison says its new transmission is rated up to 600bhp and 2,305Nm of torque at launch. It provides 10 forward speeds and two reverse and comes with Allison's latest generation of electronic controls for fuel economy and prognostics. Allison offers a five-year or 750,000 mile warranty.
