Fleet Source offers CLOCS-approved driver training 05 March 2015

Fleet services support firm Fleet Source has launched a work related road risk (WRRR) course for HGV drivers, aimed at meet the rising demand from the construction industry for approved, nation-wide training.

With TfL's (Transport for London) CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety) initiative now championed as the standard for nationwide, Fleet Source says its WRRR course has been developed specifically to meet the theory training objectives set out in the CLOCS standard.

The one-day Fleet Source course addresses the greatest risks and ensures drivers are up-to-date with the CLOCS standard.

Nick Caesari, managing director of Fleet Source, says it covers a wide range of aspects for drivers, including: understanding the increasing number of vulnerable road users and how they interact with traffic; use of defensive driving techniques; and how to maintain and correctly operate safety equipment, such as blind spot technology.

"Our WRRR course provides fleet operators and their drivers with a new training option," states Caesari.

"There are a limited number of training providers for the sector, and even less who deliver CLOCS-approved training," he continues.

"We are extremely pleased to have been given the green light on our WRRR course, which we are now starting to roll out for various organisations around the UK."

Fleet Source's WRRR course was piloted late in February, in collaboration with City of London and key construction managers, and is now CLOCS- and FORS- (the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) approved – FORS being the accreditation scheme for the CLOCS standard.

This development follows TfL's appointment of global infrastructure services firm AECOM to operate and grow FORS – with Fleet Source and CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport) providing support under the collectively named FORS Community Partnership (FCP).

Fleet Source's role in the FCP is to deliver accreditation audits and training for the FORS scheme nationwide.

The contract, which has an initial term of five years, will see FORS extended outside of London, with AECOM rolling out the scheme on a national basis.
