Fowler Welch picks dual-temperature fridge trailers from Cartwright18 January 2018

Ambient and chilled produce transporter Fowler Welch has ordered ten dual-temperature refrigerated trailers from Cartwright.

The ATP-rated, 13.6 metre straight frame tri-axle, semi-trailers have 26-pallet specification with a heavy duty (ISO 10496 tested) Chequer plate aluminium floor overlay.

The refrigerated trailers have a lighter weight advantage, with Cartwright engineers reducing weight by around 700kg over standard UK fridge trailers.

They are equipped with Carrier Transicold’s Vector 1950 multi-temperature (MT) unit and the upgraded fleet management system Foretrack, which now includes two-way communication and a new mobile app.

The trailers are supplied with Carrier’s everCOLD aftersales service, repair and maintenance package, giving Fowler Welch annual temperature control testing and certification, full regulatory checks, and access to Carrier Transicold’s oneCALL 24/7 incident management service.

Paul Allera, head of fleet at Fowler Welch, says: “Following the successful integration of the new automated pallet delivery fridge trailers in 2016 into our operation, Cartwright agreed to build a seed trailer for us to try. The trailer performed well and we gained good feedback from both drivers and warehouse operatives.

“It was following this successful trial we decided to place an order for the 10 trailers. These trailers will run alongside others in the fleet and their performance will be closely monitored by the team.”
